Magic the Gathering Passes $500 Million in Quarterly Revenue

Magic: The Gathering generated $545 million in quarterly revenue, up 32 percent and above $500 million for the first time, while Hasbro raised its full-year revenue-growth guidance, according to company earnings reported by Retail Dive. [1]

The result follows the July 19 account that separated Netflix's 13 percent revenue growth from viewing, renewal logic and outside accountability as public engagement reports became less frequent, showing again that an issuer percentage can be accurate while the audience denominator remains private.

Magic presents that problem in cardboard and code because revenue records what Hasbro recognized without revealing retail sell-through, active players, retention, the mix between tabletop and digital products or the franchise's profit margin, and offers no independent check on how much product reached players.

Hasbro also recorded a $56 million noncash write-down tied to a canceled game, Retail Dive reported, a charge that does not erase Magic's quarter but shows why one franchise record cannot stand in for the whole digital portfolio, just as guidance remains a forecast rather than a full-year result. A specific July 21 search for Hasbro, Magic and the $545 million quarter found no verified X post, leaving player excitement, pricing criticism and cancellation reactions unobserved, while the quarter gives investors a large receipt but outsiders an incomplete audience until product mix, unit sales, player retention, margins and the canceled title's costs distinguish measured revenue from durable demand.
