Louisiana state senator Blake Miguez says he hopes to earn Donald Trump's endorsement again after redistricting erased the congressional seat for which Trump had backed him, but Miguez has not said which of two redrawn districts he will contest and candidate qualifying opens August 5. [1]

The uncertainty follows a 2007 police report accusing Miguez of rape, which he categorically denies and which did not result in charges; the Guardian reports that the episode raised questions inside the White House about vetting and disclosure, but no criminal finding exists. [1]

Trump has not formally rescinded the earlier endorsement, and a White House spokesperson said the president would examine the field after qualifying if necessary, leaving an old endorsement attached to a district that no longer exists, a possible candidacy, and future party support as separate facts. The candidate-specific X search returned an empty result set, so voter reaction was not retrievable through the authorized path and neither silence nor a Louisiana consensus is established.

Horse-race coverage makes Trump's choice the prize while accountability coverage can make an accusation sound adjudicated, but the public-interest test is harder: which district Miguez files in, what he disclosed while seeking support, how party officials apply their standards, and what any investigation or litigation establishes; until those stages advance, he is seeking an endorsement, considering a candidacy, and denying an accusation, none of which concludes another.
