Glen Hansard, the Frames frontman who won an Oscar for "Falling Slowly" from the film Once, died in the early hours of July 29 in a motorcycle collision in Lucan, west Dublin. He was 56. [1]

Gardaí confirmed the fatal road traffic collision on Wednesday; his management confirmed his death. [2] Hansard began as a teenage busker on Grafton Street and never fully left the posture — even after the 2008 Academy Award, the Swell Season, and Once's Tony-winning transfer to Broadway, he played street sets and small rooms. The Swell Season released a reunion album in 2025. [1]
