Ukraine's General Staff put Russia's one-day personnel loss at 1,330 killed or wounded on July 22, lifting the estimated total since February 24, 2022, to 1,433,230. Ukrinform published the ledger. [1]
The same desk reported 1,500 casualties in the day to August 2, for a running total of about 1,449,120. The daily figure moves. The four-digit habit does not. [2]
The July 22 addendum listed plus-two tanks, plus-four armored vehicles, plus-57 artillery systems, and plus-1,610 operational-tactical drones. The figures are Kyiv's, updated as the staff says they are updated. [1]
X treats the number as a score. The Kyiv Independent noted what the staff still will not publish: Ukraine's own losses, withheld for operational secrecy. CSIS, in a January report the paper cited, put the casualty ratio at roughly 2.5-to-1 or 2-to-1. [2]
The August 2 addendum also listed 12,231 tanks and 47,196 artillery systems lost since the invasion began. Those tallies move with the same unverified method. [2]
A moral witness does not confuse a press graphic with a grave. The 1,330 is a claim. The unlisted Ukrainian dead are the silence around it.
