Academician Ivo Šlaus died Saturday, 8 August 2026, in Zagreb, at 94, Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik recorded. [1] He was an honorary member of the IUC, deputy director-general from 1996 to 2011, and vice-chair of its council from 2011 to 2017.

Born 26 September 1931 in Split, he took a physics diploma in 1954 and a doctorate in 1958 at Zagreb. [1] He worked at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, published across nuclear, particle, and medical physics, and was a HAZU member from 1977. He was president of the World Academy of Art and Science from 2011 to 2013, later honorary president, an honorary member of the Club of Rome, and a member of the Pugwash Council. He sat in the Croatian Parliament from 2000 to 2003.
