Britain, Australia and Canada jointly called Israel's decision not to open a criminal investigation into the April 2024 strike that killed seven World Central Kitchen workers "shameful." [1] The dead included three Britons — John Chapman, James Henderson and James Kirby — Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom, and Polish volunteer Damian Soból. [1]

The Israeli military said Wednesday its commanders mistook people in the convoy for armed Hamas operatives and concluded there was "no reasonable suspicion of criminal misconduct." [1] The convoy had deviated from a route coordinated with the army; the vehicles carried the charity's logo on their roofs. [1]

The juxtaposition is the IDF's own making. On the same day it closed the WCK file, it admitted troops fired on the car carrying five-year-old Hind Rajab and ordered criminal investigations into her killing and the deaths of 15 paramedics in 2025. [1]

"This decision is both too little, and too late," the three governments said, noting Gaza remains "the deadliest place to deliver aid," with 186 humanitarian workers killed in 2025. [1][2] WCK called the closure "inconsistent with the full truth and deeply offensive." [1] Poland demanded cooperation with its own investigation; London said it was "appalled and angry." [1]
