The Hawk Fire's numbers moved in three directions at once. Containment jumped from 27 percent in the morning update to 85 percent by the evening tally, with the National Interagency Fire Center listing 15,067 acres and 586 personnel by nightfall — down from 816 assigned at dawn, crews released as line held. Go-now zones that covered roughly 90,000 people over the weekend dropped to about 5,000, with Golden Valley, Raleigh Heights, Hoge Road, Rancho San Rafael and the Stead-side neighborhoods east of U.S. 395 reopened; some 23,000 Somersett residents were already returning. Thirteen schools stay closed Wednesday for a third day, TMCC reopens, and roughly 5,000 NV Energy customers still wait for power near 100 damaged utility structures.
