A Molecule Reversed Memory Loss in Mice, With a Caveat

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania identified a molecule that reversed memory deficits in mice engineered to show Alzheimer's-like symptoms, according to a study published this week in the journal Aging Biology. [1] The molecule, 4-phenylbutyrate, acts as a "chemical chaperone" that prevents misfolded proteins from clumping and damaging brain cells. [1]
