A separate but related concern is mounting over European airspace safety. Reuters reported Monday that the European aviation safety body EASA is assessing risks as the month-old Iran war reshapes flight corridors, with conflict zones forcing commercial aircraft into increasingly congested routes between Asia and Europe [3]. Portugal's geographic position makes its airspace a key waypoint for rerouted transatlantic and Mediterranean flights.

Portugal's defense posture has also come under scrutiny.
