The paper's Friday standard put the Q2 revenue projection at $10.9 billion and the operating profit at $559 million, both figures briefed to the Wall Street Journal earlier in the week. The implied run-rate from a $10.9 billion quarter is $43.6 billion. Reuters' $50 billion figure assumes the Q3 ramp accelerates from there. The mechanical explanation is that the round is closing faster than the journalism around it. The $30-billion-plus round at $900 billion pre-money — to value Anthropic above OpenAI's $852 billion paper figure — is reportedly closing "as soon as next week," with several term sheets still being finalized through the weekend.
