[1] Brent closed down 9.07 percent. The Dow added 868 points. No meeting was announced by nightfall. No venue was named by Saturday sunrise.

This is not the first time the line has moved the tape without moving a motorcade. On April 14, the administration floated Islamabad as a possible site for the next round; Pakistan's mediation decomposed across four capitals with no Round 2 date by Thursday night. [2] The Friday morning claim replaced a collapsing diplomatic track with a statement of proximity and a weekend window, and the market treated the statement as news.

Iran's public posture told a different story before the market closed. Tehran's foreign ministry denied within hours the president's separate claim that Iran had agreed to surrender its enriched uranium: "enriched uranium," the statement read, "is not going to be transferred anywhere." [3] That was the fifth public revision of the war's stated aims in sixty days, and the first where the counterparty rebutted in real time. [4]

The weekend-talks claim is not, yet, a meeting. It is a sentence with market effects. Forty-eight hours from Friday morning is Sunday night. The test is whether a communiqué, a delegation list, or a photograph emerges by then — or whether Monday's tape discovers the weekend was a window that no one climbed through.
